For an international community of English users to understand you, it is necessary that you pronounce words and deliver your sentences intelligibly. This course provides you with a practical introduction to the pronunciation skills needed for clear communication in English, without forcing you to use a specific accent. Participants will actively learn how to correctly produce the individual sounds of English consonants, vowels and diphthongs and practice articulating 45 distinctive sounds. They will be introduced to the symbols of the English phonemic chart and the anatomy of speech. Confidence-building practice then focuses on the pronunciation of syllables and sentences, contrastive sounds, linking sounds and intonation. Participants will be given personal exercises to address their individual needs and strengthen correct habits.
