English: Presentation and Discussion in Academic and Professional Settings

This course is for Master and PhD students as well as staff who already have a concept and/or data and who are preparing to deliver a presentation.

Presenting fluently and correctly and engaging in discussions with demanding audiences are indispensable skills in academic and professional life. For this course, participants bring along their own concept and/or data and develop a presentation along with visual support materials (e.g. handouts and presentation slides). They train various aspects of oral delivery (pronunciation, intonation, holding the audience’s attention, visualizing ideas) and interaction during the discussion (improvising and dealing with challenging questions).
