English: Conversation, Discussion and Presentation - Advanced

This intensive Conversation, Discussion and Presentation Advanced training is ideally combined with the Grammar and Vocabulary - Advanced course as well as the Academic Writing Workshop - Advanced.

This intensive Conversation training gives participants ample opportunity to refresh and improve their oral interactive competences in conversation and discussion as well as their delivery skills for presentations. We will learn language to narrate, describe, and argue in formal and informal situations. Focused practice on specific oral situations will impart confidence and enhance fluency.

Topics will be drawn from academic, professional, and everyday life. Samples will be taken from seminar discussions and presentations in different academic disciplines and participants are invited to introduce their own topics in conversation.

Some of the functions that will be trained include:

  • Chairing and participating in meetings and seminars
  • Negotiating, agreeing and disagreeing
  • Presenting and evaluating research
  • Raising and responding to questions and defending arguments.

There will be no class on 29 August 2018.
