Deutsch als Fremdsprache: A1.1 (Kurs 2)

Would you like to learn to speak and understand the language of the city and region where you live, the language of your Swiss German peers, colleagues, and friends? Take the first step and get started with this course.

Whether at a bakery or a train station, in a supermarket or a restaurant, on a streetcar or in meeting someone new, you will soon be able to talk about yourself using simple sentences and to communicate in everyday situations. You will learn to express your needs and to ask questions to obtain important information. German will open doors for you in Basel, in German-speaking Switzerland, and far beyond: German is the most widely spoken first language in the European Union, the official language in German-speaking Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, and also an official language in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein. We will be happy to help you discover the linguistic world and cultures of the German-speaking countries, focusing in particular on Switzerland. Our variegated lessons will provide you with the necessary skills. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary and also learn how to communicate effectively in private, professional, and academic contexts.

German, the target language, will be the language of instruction; the academic lingua franca of English will only be used occasionally as an auxiliary language.
