English for Global Health

This semester course is tailor-made in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH). It is free of charge and open exclusively for students and staff of the Swiss TPH.

Through the use of subject-specific materials that participants use in their studies and projects, they will deepen their understanding of written and spoken English language sources.

Some of the skills that will be practised include

  • interpreting, describing and summarising data,
  • listening to presentations and participating in discussions,
  • understanding and drafting abstracts and parts of articles,
  • oral presentation of a problem and how it could be addressed,
  • strategies which help participants to express themselves with greater fluency and accuracy.

Upon completion of this course, participants can enroll in English for Health, Life and Natural Sciences.
