Cambridge C2 Proficiency: Preparation

This course is suited to proficient users who seek intensive and accelerated preparation for the Cambridge C2 Proficiency exam. Participants will have the opportunity to develop and practice exam techniques for the four papers (Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and will be supported in their preparation based on previous exam papers. Although the course aims to prepare participants for the Cambridge exam, it can also be taken by those who seek to attain a very advanced level of English without the certificate.

<b>Internal exam:</b>
The Listening part of the internal exam will be held in the final course session. The written parts of the exam will be held on Friday 15 December (14:00–15:30). The room will be announced at a later date. All exam parts must be passed in order to receive ECTS credits.

<b>External exam:</b>
For dates and other details on the external examinations, please consult the Cambridge Assessment English website as well as the website of the examinations office where you wish to take the exam. In the case of Basel, this is Cambridge Assessment English Basel.

Coursework

Participants are expected to:
  • participate actively in class;
  • complete learning assessments;
  • spend 3 hours per course session on preparing and reviewing the lesson and on autonomous learning.

Credit points

To earn the credit points, students must fulfill the attendance requirement, complete the coursework, and pass the required number of assessments. The course is graded on a pass-fail basis.

Placement test

This course requires an obligatory placement test, completion of a preceding course, or a recent recognized certificate. Where results are inconclusive, prospective participants may also be required to submit a writing sample. You will receive further instructions upon registering for the course.
