Writing to Be Published for the Natural Sciences
Writing to Be Published for the Social Sciences and Humanities
This academic writing course is most suitable for students that already have a research topic, have started their research and are working on a text to submit to a publisher or a thesis towards completion of their degree.
There are 4 contact sessions of 3 hours each, introducing students to the structural and language-related requirements for each section of their intended research output. Home assignments after each session require participants to write a section of their own research article or thesis (approximate time for home assignments: 3 hours between each class).
Additionally, the course incorporates detailed review and feedback by the lecturer and peers, followed by revision of your text to help you to turn your own data and/or concepts into a readable manuscript.
In this process of writing and revising, the focus is on writing it right: that is, eliminating language that obscures what you want to say and instead using correct and clear expressions that get your message across to the reviewer or examiner.
