Preparation: Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) Booster

This second module in the Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) preparation course follows the Starter course, which is compulsory to earn credit points (ECTS). The focus is on the further development of exam techniques for the four papers (Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking). Participants are supported in their exam preparation using previous exams, with special attention paid to writing and speaking.

Although the course aims to prepare participants for the Cambridge exam, it can also be taken by those who seek to attain a very advanced level of English without the certificate. For further information on the C2 Proficiency exam, please go to the Cambridge English Language Assessment website.

Internal exam: The Listening part of the internal exam will be held in the final course session. The written parts of the exam will be held on Friday 24 May 2019 (14:00–15:30). The room will be announced at a later date. All exam parts must be passed in order to receive ECTS.

Requirements

Requirements for acquisition of credit points

Starter and Booster course

In order to receive credit points, candidates will:

  • not be absent more than twice in each of the two modules,
  • submit four satisfactory written assignments with a minimum of 3 on the Cambridge band scale in each of the two modules (if an assignment is unsatisfactory, it may be resubmitted once; these writing assignments will count 25% of the final exam grade but cannot be used to compensate other test parts),
  • pass the internal exam set by the Language Center at the end of the Booster course.

External exams:
For dates and other details on the external examinations, please consult the Cambridge English Language Assessment website as well as the website of the examinations office where you wish to take the exam. In the case of Basel, this is Cambridge English Basel.

Please note:
There must not be more than two semesters between Starter and Booster courses.

You can get a total of 4 credit points.

Students are assessed by means of a portfolio (pass/fail).

Certificate of attendance

In order to receive a certificate of attendance (available on request) for this course, you are not allowed to be absent more than maximum two times.

Placement test

Registration for this course is only possible after completion of the preceding course.

Replacement date

The supplementary replacement date for lessons that might not take place is: 18.05.2019 from 10:00 - 16:00.
